23rd Annual Ocean City Tuna Tournament Pays Out Just Under $350,000

 

Despite Mother Nature and the Bluefin Tuna Regulations not being on our side, this year’s O.C. Tuna Tournament was still a great success with a cash payout of just under $350,000. With only sixty-nine boats registered, fewer than years past, 2010 had more participants across the board than in 2009. 

 

For most of the weekend the wind blew and the seas were high, but that did not stop the boats from bringing in more Yellowfin Tuna than we have seen in over five years. Only a handful of Bluefin Tuna were weighed mainly due to the regulations set just three weeks before the event. Gaffer Dolphin also came to the scales in high numbers. See the final results below.

 

We are all keeping our fingers crossed that next year’s weather and regulations improve so that the 24th Annual Ocean City Tuna Tournament, July 15 – 17 2011, will once again be able to give out well over $500,000. Hope to see you at the scales!!
