Ohana Hooks First Place in the 25th Annual Treasure Cay Billfish Tournament
ABACO, BAHAMAS, 06/08 – Ohana took top honors at the 25th Annual Treasure Cay Billfish
 
Tournament, Abaco, Bahamas. Anglers traveled from several states as well as from the Bahamas to compete in the world-class billfish competition, June 8-13 at Treasure Cay Hotel Resort & Marina. Known for its family-friendly atmosphere, the tournament also offered a fun fish division and fabulous social events.
 
First place overall and first place release team went to Ohana, a 61’ Spencer out of Jacksonville Beach, FL owned by Edward Burr, for releasing two blue marlin with a total of 1,000 points. Midnight Blue, Miami, FL, won second place with a blue and white marlin release worth 700 points. Eddie Lopez of Midnight Blue also won the Top Angler and Top Release Angler awards. Double Eagle, out of Hollywood, FL, won third and Waterproof, Pompano Beach, FL earned fourth place, with one blue marlin
release each.
 
Chase Gargiulio of the Miss Lisa, Naples, FL won the Top Junior Angler award. First place dolphin went to Andy Polash of Fisherman Joe-Kel, Cape May, NJ for a 36.2 lb. fish.
 
The tournament celebrated its 25th Anniversary with a bonfire and junkanoo parade performed by the children of the Treasure Cay Primary School. Festivities included the unveiling of a perpetual trophy to honor winners of past and current tournaments.
 
A qualifier for the IGFA Offshore World Championship, this modified release tournament offered four days of fishing, parties, dinners and fun competitions. Renowned for its great food, camaraderie and events families can enjoy, the TCBT also raised funds for the Treasure Cay Primary School. Major sponsors included Chevron Texaco Bahamas, Awlgrip North America, Continental Connection/Gulfstream International Airlines (official airline of the tournament) and Treasure Cay Hotel Resort & Marina.
