May 9th News Release: Fifty Nine teams headed for the fabled Cabo San Lucas marlin grounds hoping to have a successful first day of fishing in the 2011 IGFA Offshore World Championship.

The Championship kicks off today with the angler registration check in. A final count of 59 teams from 25 Countries was welcomed by the tournament Committee lead by the staff of Marlin, Sport Fishing and Salt Water Sportsman magazines.

A total of 178 anglers traveling from 19 countries gathered at the tip of Mexico’s Baja this May to compete in the 2010 IGFA Offshore World Championship.

With so many international teams competing from around the globe, the IGFA Offshore World Championship is often considered the “Olympics” of big-game fishing.
