Welcome to the IGFA Offshore World Championship website. We sincerely thank you for visiting. Here, you will find information on the qualifying events and the Offshore World Championship scheduled for May 10-15, 2009, in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

The qualifying events represent the most diverse group of offshore international fishing tournaments ever assembled. As a qualifying event, you receive many amenities, including affiliation with the world’s largest international fishing series. Each qualifying event can provide tournament information, forms, photography, press releases and a video on this website. If you are a tournament director and want to join the series or an avid angler looking for a great event to fish, please check out the Qualifying Events section. We would also encourage the participants of the qualifying events to communicate and share their experiences on our forums page.

Winners of a qualifying event will receive an invitation to compete in the IGFA Offshore World Championship! This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, so we hope all the winners can attend. The IGFA Offshore World Championship provides a fun, first-class competition for the world’s best anglers. You will find yourself competing against hundreds of other anglers from as many as 30 different countries. The rich waters off Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, provide the playground for the week. The winners receive an outstanding prize package, including a beautiful Bodo Muche trophy. The greatest prize of the tournament is the distinction of being crowned the IGFA Offshore World Champion! Cabo San Lucas is coined the “Marlin Capital of the World.” Your hosts are the crew at Marlin, Sport Fishing and Salt Water Sportsman magazines, and the main benefactor is the IGFA. Your participation is greatly appreciated and helps the IGFA continue their education, conservation and world-record-keeping initiatives.
